Fired Heaters are the heart of every refinery and petrochemical plant, consuming enormous amounts of energy and presenting unique design challenges. A deep understanding of their design, layout, and associated piping systems is one of the most valuable skills a piping or process engineer can possess.
“This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.”
This comprehensive course is your complete blueprint to mastering fired heaters. With 22 detailed lectures across 8 modules, we will guide you step-by-step from the absolute fundamentals to the expert-level nuances of layout and safety. We begin with the basics, exploring the role and key components of a fired heater. We will then build a strong foundation by covering the essential industry design standards like API 560, and comparing the various types of fired heaters to understand their specific applications. From there, we dive deep into the heart of the heater: the burner assembly, draft systems, and the detailed design of the radiant, convection, and stack sections.
The final, and most extensive, part of this course is dedicated to the practical skills you need on the job. You will learn the critical rules for plant layout, safety distances, maintenance access, and the integration of major equipment like steam drums. We will cover the complete guidelines for process piping, burner piping, and emergency snuffing steam systems. Finally, we will close the loop by teaching you how to handle vendor information and the basics of stress analysis for heater nozzles.
By the end of this course, you will have the confidence and practical knowledge to design, review, and contribute to fired heater projects in a real-world setting.
