This is part one of a two part course on planting design which will teach you the techniques used by professional garden designers to create beautiful, easily maintained, sustainable plant compositions with year round interest. And after completing this course you will have acquired one of the essential skills of becoming a garden designer, and the expertise to design plant compositions for any size or style of garden.
This first part will teach you how plants are classified and categorised, and the design uses and features of plants which are the foundations of the art of planting design. This knowledge is used in the second part of the course where the design principles, techniques and guidelines of designing successful plant compositions are taught. The course concludes with a step-by-step process to designing a planting bed and an opportunity for you to design your own planting bed.
