This course is designed to answer these questions and take you through the complete Scan-to-BIM workflow, from Reality Capture and laser scanning fundamentals all the way to BIM modeling, QA/QC, and visualization. You will start by understanding what Scan-to-BIM is, how 3D laser scanning and LiDAR capture real-world conditions, and how point cloud data becomes the foundation for accurate BIM modeling. You will then work extensively with Autodesk ReCap Pro to understand how scan data is imported, registered, organized, visualized, classified, edited, optimized, and prepared for use in BIM workflows.
From there, we move into Revit, where you will work with real point cloud data and develop BIM models across multiple disciplines, including:
- Architecture
- Structure
- MEP
You will model real building elements such as walls, floors, doors, windows, stairs, railings, structural elements, piping, fire protection systems, ductwork, cable trays, and conduits. But the workflow doesn’t stop at basic modeling. You will also explore advanced Scan-to-BIM scenarios, including renovation, heritage projects, complex architectural geometry, topography generation, parametric modeling, and mesh-based workflows.
