This course takes you through a complete, hands-on retail analytics project from raw data to business insights and recommendations. You will work with a realistic synthetic retail dataset and learn how analysts approach a business problem step by step. The project covers sales, customers, products, regional performance, operations, KPIs, and business insights. You will learn how to use SQL Server to understand, validate, explore, and analyze data. You will then use Power BI to build an analytical data model and create an interactive dashboard. Along the way, you will learn the fundamentals of DAX and use it to create important business metrics such as revenue, profit, profit margin, orders, customers, average order value, repeat customer percentage, cancellation rate, return rate, and delivery performance.
But this course is not only about writing SQL queries or creating charts. The main focus is learning how to think like an analyst. For each analysis, we connect the technical work to a business question: Business Question → Data → SQL Analysis → KPI → Insight → Business Recommendation You will also learn how to distinguish between what the data actually tells us and what we should investigate further, rather than making unsupported assumptions. By the end of the project, you will have experience working through an end-to-end analytics workflow that you can use to understand and present your own projects.
