Description
Build a real document scanner app for iOS and Android with React Native, and learn how scanning actually works under the hood. You’ll start with a ready-made native scanner to get a working app fast. Then you’ll write your own document detection with OpenCV, step by step.
How this course works
Most tutorials stop at “install a library and call it.” This course goes two steps further.
- First, build it fast. You’ll add react-native-document-scanner-plugin, which uses Google ML Kit on Android and Apple VisionKit on iOS. Around it, you’ll build a complete app: onboarding, multi-page documents, local storage, and file saving.
- Then, build the detection yourself. You’ll learn the basics of computer vision in a small OpenCV playground. Then you’ll write your own detector: find the document’s edges, find its four corners, and flatten it with a perspective transform.
Every step is a project step. There are no slides-only lectures. You also get:
- A GitHub source code snapshot for each lecture
- Starter and final projects for the OpenCV playground
- A Google Colab notebook for edge detection experiments
- Sample documents to scan, image assets, and a VS Code snippet file
- Bonus React and TypeScript refresher sections
