Privacy is often treated as a document, a checklist, or a last-minute compliance task. In reality, most privacy failures happen much earlier during planning, design, and decision-making. This course introduces Privacy by Design as a way of thinking that ensures privacy is considered early, works by default, is built into systems, remains transparent, and respects individuals throughout the data lifecycle. You will learn the seven principles of Privacy by Design in a clear, structured, and practical manner. Each principle is explained using plain language and real-world reasoning, with a focus on design decisions rather than legal theory or technical implementation details.
The course is designed for learners who want to understand how privacy works in practice across projects, systems, processes, and organisational decisions. By the end of this course, you will be able to understand the principles of Privacy by Design, apply design thinking to privacy decisions, identify common implementation mistakes, and move from reactive compliance to proactive privacy design. This course is non-technical, practical, and suitable for learners at all levels who work with or are responsible for personal data. The course emphasises practical decision making, system thinking, and respectful data handling across organisations, teams, and evolving digital environments globally.
