Power BI becomes much more valuable when you can write the calculations behind the visuals. This course teaches Power BI DAX from the ground up using one consistent sales dataset, so you can build understanding step by step instead of learning disconnected formulas. You will start by setting up Power BI Desktop, loading a sample Excel workbook, creating your first visuals, and shaping data in Power Query. From there, you will build a clean data model using relationships and a star schema with Sales, Products, Customers, Calendar, and Regions tables.
The DAX part of the course begins with the most important beginner decision: when to use a calculated column and when to use a measure. You will then create practical formulas using SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, COUNTROWS, DISTINCTCOUNT, IF, SWITCH, RELATED, VAR, RETURN, CALCULATE, FILTER, ALL, ALLEXCEPT, REMOVEFILTERS, VALUES, SELECTEDVALUE, RANKX, and time-intelligence patterns.
