Udemy – Pipeline Construction: Oil & Gas From Survey – Commissioning

Pipeline construction is the backbone of global energy infrastructure. This comprehensive course teaches the complete onshore pipeline construction process used by oil and gas professionals worldwide. Master the industry-standard construction sequence: right-of-way preparation, pipe stringing, welding, non-destructive testing, field joint coating, trenching, lowering-in, backfilling, hydrostatic testing, and commissioning. Perfect for pipeline engineers, construction supervisors, project managers, and inspectors preparing for API 1169 certification.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:

• Complete Pipeline Construction Sequence – Understand every phase from initial site survey through final commissioning and handover, including right-of-way preparation, working width management, and construction spread operations.
• Welding & Quality Control – Learn welding procedures, welder qualifications, radiographic inspection, non-destructive testing methods (RT, UT, MT), and weld acceptance criteria following industry standards.
• Pipe Handling & Installation – Master pipe stringing logistics, trenching operations (including rock excavation), sideboom lowering techniques, backfilling requirements, and padding/compaction specifications.
• Field Joint Coating Systems – Understand coating inspection, shrink sleeve application, fusion bonded epoxy systems, and coating integrity protection during construction.
• Special Crossings – Explore horizontal directional drilling (HDD), boring techniques, and special procedures for road, railway, watercourse, and utility crossings.
• Pre-Commissioning & Testing – Learn hydrostatic pressure testing procedures, pipeline cleaning and gauging pig runs, drying methods, and pressure test documentation requirements.
• Post-Construction Activities – Understand coating integrity surveys (Pearson surveys, CIPS), as-built documentation requirements, and the comprehensive document handover package.
• Health, Safety & Environment – Apply HSE principles throughout every construction phase, including excavation safety, heavy equipment protocols, environmental protection, and cultural heritage preservation.
• API 1169 Preparation – Course content aligns with API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector certification topics, providing practical knowledge for exam preparation.
