Oracle Database Architecture, Networking, and Security are foundational aspects of managing a reliable, scalable, and secure database environment. The architecture of Oracle Database consists of two main components: the instance and the database. The instance includes memory structures like the System Global Area (SGA) and Program Global Area (PGA), along with background processes such as DBWn, LGWR, SMON, and PMON, which handle memory management, logging, and recovery. The database itself consists of physical files, including datafiles, control files, and redo log files, and is logically organized into tablespaces, segments, extents, and blocks.
Oracle networking is facilitated through Oracle Net Services, which enables seamless communication between client applications and the Oracle Database. Key components include the listener, which manages connection requests; tnsnames.ora, which defines service name mappings; and sqlnet.ora, which handles naming methods and security settings. Oracle supports multiple connection types, including dedicated and shared servers, and offers simplified connection options like Easy Connect.
