OpenClaw gives you a way to move beyond ordinary AI chat and build agents that can work with tools, memory, messaging channels, reusable skills, and scheduled workflows. In this hands-on OpenClaw course, you will learn how to build and control a practical personal AI agent step by step. The course is designed to make AI agents understandable even if you are not an advanced programmer. Instead of focusing only on theory, you will work through real agent workflows, real terminal commands, real outputs, and real debugging situations. You will begin by understanding the difference between a chatbot and an AI agent. You will learn how goals, context, tools, actions, sessions, memory, and permissions work together inside an agentic AI workflow.
Then you will install and configure OpenClaw, understand the OpenClaw Gateway, connect a model provider, explore channels and sessions, and learn how to discover what your agent is actually allowed to access. A major part of the course focuses on practical AI agent design. You will learn how to create clear instructions using goals, context, rules, output requirements, and approval boundaries. You will also learn why more permissions are not always better and how to apply the principle of least necessary access.
Throughout the course, you will build practical workflows including:
- A research assistant that finds, filters, compares, summarizes, and cites information.
- An email drafting assistant that prepares useful messages without automatically sending them.
- A document assistant that extracts summaries, decisions, tasks, owners, deadlines, and missing information.
- A reusable Daily Brief workflow.
- A Morning Brief agent that can combine selected information into useful daily priorities.
- Scheduled AI automations that can run once or repeatedly.
