Welcome to the Power Substation and Electrical Power System Fundamentals course. This course is designed to provide a clear, practical, and easy-to-understand introduction to electrical substations and modern power systems used in industrial and utility applications. In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems along with the operation and purpose of important substation equipment such as power transformers, distribution transformers, current transformers, voltage transformers, switchgear systems, busbars, circuit breakers, protective relays, lightning arresters, surge arresters, grounding systems, capacitor banks, and battery banks.
You will also understand different types of circuit breakers including oil circuit breakers, air blast circuit breakers, vacuum circuit breakers, and SF6 circuit breakers. In addition, the course covers important support systems such as SCADA systems, communication systems, HVAC systems, fire fighting systems, and substation facilities. The course is explained in a simple and structured manner so that beginners, students, technicians, engineers, maintenance professionals, and utility personnel can easily understand real-world substation operations and power system applications.
