This course is a complete, practical, and industry‑oriented training on electrical Cable Sizing Calculation, covering both Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems using IEC standards. Whether you’re a student, electrical engineer, or working professional in oil & gas, EPC, manufacturing, or utilities — this course will teach you how real‑world cable sizing is done in industrial projects.
You will learn ampacity correction, voltage drop, short‑circuit withstand, protections, L max, thermal checks, and practical selection using actual vendor data sheets and project conditions. Electrical cable sizing is one of the most essential skills for any electrical engineer working in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Industrial Projects.
In real projects, improper cable sizing leads to overheating, voltage instability, equipment failure, unnecessary cost escalation, and even fire hazards. This course gives you complete mastery over cable sizing calculations — backed by deep theory + practical examples + IEC standards + real vendor datasheets.
You will learn the entire step‑by‑step process used in actual industrial projects, covering:
- Ampacity calculation with all derating factors (K1–K4)
- Voltage drop (running + starting) and maximum permissible length
- Short circuit withstand sizing using IEC formulas
- Choosing correct protection (MCB, MCCB, ACB, fuses, ELR)
- L max for indirect contact protection in TN‑systems
- Trefoil arrangement, grouping effects, soil effects
- Practical selection using DUCAB/OMAN/POLYCAB datasheets
Every concept is simplified using real examples — motors, transformers, feeders, heaters, UPS circuits, lighting circuits — so you immediately understand how to apply them in your designs.
By the end of the course, you will be able to perform cable sizing confidently without depending on consultants or senior engineers.
