You’ll master link-state routing from the ground up: how Dijkstra builds the SPF tree, how the LSDB synchronizes across neighbors, and exactly what triggers SPF recalculation. You’ll recognize every LSA type (1–5, 7, 9–11) on sight — knowing which router originates it, how it floods, and what it carries — so the database is never a mystery. Neighbor adjacencies become deterministic: you’ll trace the hello/dead timer negotiation through EXSTART, EXCHANGE,LOADING, to FULL, and fix stuck states in seconds using targeted debug ip ospf output and packetcaptures instead of guessing.
You’ll design both single-area and multi-area deployments with intention — placing ABRs where summarization actually reduces LSDB churn, controlling LSA propagation with area types, and configuring Area 0 continuity that holds under failure. When the backbone partitions, you’ll deploy virtual links that come up and stay up, not ones that flap.Redistribution into OSPFv2 (connected, static,BGP) becomes safe and predictable: you’ll set metric-types, tags, and route-maps that prevent loops and suboptimal paths.
Every skill is validated across 20+ EVE-NG and Packet Tracer labs — single-area bring-up, multi-area scaling, virtual-link repair, redistribution edge-cases, SPF throttling, and authentication — so you don’t just watch; you configure, verify, and troubleshoot. The result: you walk into the CCNA 200-301 or CCNP ENARSI 300-410 exam and answer every OSPF question because you’ve built it, brokenit, and fixed it.
