My main purpose for creating this class is to show students that you can create character animations without using any rigging tools such as Duik, Rubberhose, or Joysticks ‘n Sliders. No plugins are required for this class. We will be animating using rotation, position, and scale properties. I believe this class is a great starting point. Then I suggest moving on to more complex character animation tools.Character animation is one of the more complex things you will have to do as a motion designer. For this reason, I recommend this class for intermediate students. For absolute beginners, I suggest taking one of my beginner classes such as “Basics of Motion Design – Start Animating in Adobe After Effects”.In this class you’ll learn how to:Animate a face & bodyImport character artwork and parent layersAnimate a character using simple rotation, position, and scale propertiesOthers extras such as creating a boil effect(hand drawn look) and some text animationsHow to export your animation to share in the project galleryYou’ll be creating:A character animation using the techniques taught in this classYou can complete the class project by following these steps:Download the artwork on the project & resources pageFollow along with my lessonsThen take what you’ve learned and apply it to your own characterDownload the completed project file on the projects & resources page, it might help if you get stuck on a lessonWhat You Need: Adobe After EffectsAdobe Media Encoder to exportTo share your class project follow these steps:Export your animation in mp4 formatUpload your video to a video-sharing platform such as YouTube or VimeoI suggest setting your video to “Unlisted” if you do not want it shared publiclyOn the projects & resources page find the submit project buttonShare the link to your videoAdobe, After Effects, and Media Encoder are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Adobe Systems Incorporated in the United States and/or other countries.
