This course provides a practical introduction to Impulse Jet Fan Car Park Ventilation using PyroSim and Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS). You will learn both the engineering fundamentals and the simulation workflow required to perform smoke control analysis for underground parking structures.
We begin by understanding the fundamentals of car park ventilation, smoke behavior, and the role of impulse jet fans in controlling airflow during fire events. You will then learn the working principles of impulse ventilation systems, including momentum transfer, air entrainment, airflow direction, dead zones, and smoke extraction strategies.
The course includes a complete CFD simulation workflow using PyroSim and FDS. You will learn how to set up the geometry, define ventilation systems, configure fire scenarios, run simulations, and analyze results. Special attention is given to engineering interpretation of smoke movement, airflow patterns, visibility conditions, and ventilation effectiveness.
