Are you looking to develop practical knowledge of pulse magnetic field immunity testing and understand how IEC 61000-4-9 is applied in an EMC testing environment? This course provides a structured introduction to the principles, test setup, measurement techniques, and practical considerations involved in pulse magnetic field immunity testing. It is designed to help learners understand not only the theory behind the test, but also how the different elements of a laboratory test system work together. Throughout the course, you will explore the pulse magnetic field test concept, induction coil arrangement, test generator, equipment under test (EUT), current measurement, oscilloscope requirements, field generation, field uniformity, spatial test volume, and validation methods.
You will learn how the double-coil arrangement can be used to establish a controlled magnetic-field region and why parameters such as coil dimensions, coil spacing, current magnitude, phase relationship, and measurement bandwidth are important when evaluating the test setup. The course also introduces the concept of EUT spatial bounding, including horizontal and vertical field distributions and the use of the ±3 dB field-uniformity criterion to define the usable test region. Practical considerations such as edge effects and magnetic-field variations are also discussed. In addition, the course covers measurement and validation concepts, including current waveform verification, synchronization between coil currents, digital modelling, three-dimensional field mapping, and comparison of field behaviour within the defined test volume.
