Welcome to IEC 61000-4-11: Practical EMC Immunity Testing, Calibration & Measurement Techniques. This course provides a structured and practical introduction to IEC 61000-4-11 and the testing of electrical and electronic equipment against voltage dips, short interruptions, and voltage variations. Throughout the course, you will develop an understanding of the EMC testing framework and learn how the requirements are translated into practical laboratory testing. The course covers the key concepts, test arrangements, generator capability, calibration, measurement circuits, EUT testing, and evaluation of inrush-current behavior.
You will learn how the voltage interruption generator is used to create controlled test conditions and how the generator’s capability can be evaluated using a defined calibration arrangement. The course also explains the role of important components such as the bridge rectifier, capacitor, bleed resistor, current probe, and oscilloscope. A major focus is the measurement and evaluation of peak inrush current. You will learn the purpose of the EUT measurement circuit and understand the 70% admissibility criterion used when considering a lower-capacity generator. The course also covers the defined measurement conditions, including cold-start and hot-start testing at 90° and 270°.
The course places IEC 61000-4-11 within the broader IEC 61000 EMC standardization framework, helping learners understand the relationship between environmental conditions, EMC testing, measurement techniques, and equipment immunity evaluation.
