This course contains the use of artificial intelligence. This course provides a comprehensive and technically structured understanding of HDPE pipe design fundamentals used in oil & gas, water distribution, and industrial pipeline systems. Learners will begin with the applications of HDPE piping and the role of international standards governing material classification, manufacturing, testing, and design practices. The course then builds a strong foundation in key design parameters, including SDR (Standard Dimension Ratio), MRS (Minimum Required Strength), and HDB (Hydrostatic Design Basis), along with the basis of design stress as per ASTM standards, enabling a clear understanding of how material properties and pipe geometry influence performance.
A major focus is placed on pressure design fundamentals as per ISO 4427, covering critical concepts such as PN (Nominal Pressure), MOP (Maximum Operating Pressure), allowable design stress, and pipe series (S) & SDR, along with the interrelationship between these parameters. Learners will gain the ability to perform engineering calculations through detailed numerical examples, ensuring practical application of concepts. The course also addresses vacuum design considerations, including the evaluation of external pressure and pipe stability under negative pressure conditions, supported by worked examples.
