This course is a practical, end‑to‑end masterclass on ServiceNow CMDB and CSDM, built entirely on a free Personal Developer Instance (PDI). Instead of jumping between theory and scattered examples, you will follow one concrete service – Employee Onboarding – and build a complete, service‑aligned model step by step.
We start with the basics: what the CMDB is, what configuration items (CIs) and CI classes are, and how relationships and dependency views actually look inside the platform. From there, you’ll design a simple but realistic model for the Employee Onboarding service and implement it using business services, service offerings, application services and supporting infrastructure CIs.
Once the structure is in place, the course moves into data. You’ll learn how to create and maintain CIs, how to load data using Import Sets and transform maps, and how to use coalesce to control create vs update behavior. You’ll then see how the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) and CMDB Health work together to reduce duplicates and improve data quality, using clear, focused examples.
