This course is designed to provide a complete, practical introduction to handmade leathercraft through the creation of a bi-fold leather wallet from scratch. The primary focus is to help students understand the complete workflow involved in making a professional-looking leather product using simple, practical techniques. Students will begin by learning about the essential leather, tools, and materials required for the project. The course then guides students through measuring and marking the leather accurately, preparing cutting lines, cutting leather pieces, creating rounded edges, and arranging the individual pieces for assembly.
The course also covers important assembly techniques, including applying leather adhesive correctly, measuring and marking stitching lines, preparing stitching holes, and setting up the needle and thread. Students will then follow the hand-stitching process step by step to assemble the different sections of the wallet. A major part of the course focuses on finishing techniques. Students will learn how to smooth leather edges, sand rough areas, apply burnishing gum, and complete the final finishing and cleaning process to achieve a neat and professional appearance.
