You will learn a comprehensive introduction to the principles, concepts, and technologies that form the foundation of modern database systems. Designed for beginners and aspiring software engineers, this course equips learners with the essential skills required to design, develop, manage, and optimize databases in both academic and real-world applications. It bridges theoretical understanding with practical implementation, making it an ideal starting point for anyone interested in data management and backend development.
The course begins by exploring the basic concepts of data, databases, and database management systems (DBMS). Learners are introduced to the relational model, one of the most widely used paradigms in the industry, including its key components such as tables, rows, columns, keys, and relationships. Through hands-on practice with SQL (Structured Query Language), students gain proficiency in creating and querying databases, manipulating data, and implementing constraints to maintain data integrity. the course also introduces learners to emerging database technologies, including NoSQL systems such as document-based, key-value, and graph databases. This comparative understanding helps learners appreciate different use cases and select appropriate tools based on application requirements.
Real-world case studies and practical exercises are integrated throughout the course to reinforce theoretical concepts and simulate the challenges faced by database engineers. Students will also explore the role of databases in modern software development, cloud computing, and big data analytics, thereby gaining insight into industry trends and expectations.
