The most expensive bugs are approved in a design review. One unquestioned assumption about consistency, retries, or clock skew becomes a multi-hour outage, a corrupted dataset, or a 3am page long after the document was signed off. This course trains the skill that prevents that: reading a distributed-systems design document and independently finding the flaw everyone else missed.
This is not a course on how to design systems from scratch, and it is not system-design interview preparation. It is about the reviewers job: adversarial, independent judgment applied to someone elses architecture before it ships. You learn to interrogate a design doc, rank issues on a clear severity ladder, and separate a rubber-stamp approval from a review that actually protects production.
