Most computer science courses teach compiler theory only with abstract formulas and diagrams. This course turns theory into working code. You will learn how real-world lexers and parsers work by building six complete, runnable compiler frontend projects using Flex (lexical analyzer) and Bison (parser generator).
What makes this course unique:
You will not only learn grammar rules or theoretical LR parsing. You will hand-code and debug industrial-style parsers that support variables, arithmetic expressions, functions, file input, error handling, and custom domain-specific languages.
Throughout this course, you will build:
- A basic calculator expression parser
- A configuration file parser
- A custom mathematical formula engine with max/min/abs functions
- A structured log parser for server log analysis
- A mini SQL SELECT statement parser
- A fully functional custom DSL supporting variables, assignments and file execution
