A sci-fi turret can look finished in Blender and still be about as playable as a desk lamp. The real test begins when the mechanical body, twin weapon arms, support legs and cables have to survive the move into Unreal Engine 5, the upper assembly has to turn around the correct pivot, the weapons have to aim without cutting through the housing, and the fire button has to hit something other than your own mesh.
In Blender to Unreal Engine 5: Playable Stylized Turret, Luke from 3D Tudor guides you through that complete chain using Blender 5.2 and Unreal Engine 5.8. You will model a detailed stylized sci-fi turret, clean and organise it for engine use, unwrap and pack the UVs, generate ambient occlusion and edge masks, configure supplied Unreal Material Instances, build responsive Blueprint controls, and fire from two muzzle points inside a supplied target-practice challenge.
31 lessons with more than 5½ hours of instruction.
The course follows six clear stages: model the turret, prepare it for Unreal, create stylized shading and edge wear, build the controls, test the shooting challenge, and use the dedicated resource pack to compare your work with finished reference projects. The modelling decisions affect the origins. The origins affect the Blueprint hierarchy. The UV layout affects the masks. The masks affect the Material Instances. The controls and target range prove whether the whole asset actually works.
