This short course aims to make you understand that assertiveness is not a personality trait but a practical skill that can be developed through awareness, practice, and intention. It gives you a basic understanding of assertive communication.
Many women in business are led to believe that assertiveness is an inborn trait, something you are either naturally good at or not. But in truth, assertiveness is a learned, trainable skill that combines self-awareness, communication techniques, and emotional resilience. In this course, you will discover that being assertive does not mean being aggressive and overpowering or passive and quiet. It means learning to express your thoughts, needs, and boundaries with clarity and confidence, while still being respectful and kind.
Through practical tools and real-life examples, you will strengthen your ability to speak up in meetings, negotiate with confidence, handle difficult conversations, and create business relationships built on mutual respect. You will learn how to manage your mindset, calm self-doubt and step into your natural leadership presence. Assertiveness becomes your foundation not only for growing your business but also for protecting your wellbeing, building trust and leading authentically.
At the heart of this course is the understanding that assertiveness is not about being forceful, it is about owning your voice, expressing your needs clearly and respectfully and leading with confidence. You will learn how to balance empathy with strength, so you can navigate conversations, boundaries, and challenges with clarity, confidence, calm and conviction in your business life.
The course is presented by Dr Antje Bothin, a top assertiveness coach, inspirational speaker and author of several books with substantial academic research and teaching experience of interactions in meetings, communication and information science. As the founder of Assertive Voices, she will guide you through the lessons.
