School leaders and instructional coaches are being asked to do more than ever—observe classrooms, analyze student data, plan coaching conversations, and support teachers through constant change. Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers a powerful opportunity to make this work more efficient, more focused, and more personalized. This course is designed to help instructional leaders use AI tools thoughtfully and effectively to strengthen their coaching and observation practices.
In this course, you will learn how to use AI to draft look-fors, analyze observation notes, identify trends, and generate feedback scripts that are aligned to teacher needs and student learning outcomes. You will also explore practical AI tools such as ChatGPT, note analyzers, and workflow builders that can streamline your pre-observation planning and post-observation coaching conversations. Each lesson provides concrete examples, guided demonstrations, and ready-to-use prompts that you can apply immediately in your school or district.
You will also learn when not to use AI. We will walk through essential ethical considerations, potential pitfalls, and ways to keep coaching human-centered, relationship-based, and grounded in professional judgment.
By the end of this course, you will leave with a complete AI-powered coaching toolkit, a set of customized prompts for your leadership needs, and a 30-day implementation plan designed to help you start using AI confidently and responsibly in your instructional leadership practice.
