Every design leader eventually faces some version of the same question. Should the team be using artificial intelligence, and if so, how much, and for what? Most organizations answer this as a procurement decision: pick a tool, roll it out, watch adoption numbers climb, call it done.
That approach measures the wrong thing. Adoption tells you how many people opened the software. It doesn’t tell you whether the work is better, whether your team still understands why a decision was made, or whether anyone could defend that decision to a client without pointing at a machine.
This course is built around a different standard: fluency. A fluent team knows where AI genuinely accelerates their work, where it quietly erodes judgment, and how to navigate the overlap where the answer isn’t a default setting but a real call. That’s a leadership competency, not a tool skill, and it’s what separates teams that use AI well from teams that just use it a lot.
