AI models are only as trustworthy as the data they’re trained on. Many teams can’t answer basic questions about that data: where it came from, whether they had the right to use it, and how it was changed along the way. That gap creates legal, financial and reputational risk, and it usually surfaces only after the model is built. This course is a practical, non-coding guide to AI data governance. You’ll learn to trace training data back to its source, check rights and consent, document datasets properly, and meet privacy and AI regulations such as the EU AI Act, GDPR and India’s DPDP Act. By the end, you’ll know who should own what in a governance program and how to manage the main risks to training data.
What you’ll learn:
- Why governing AI training data differs from traditional data governance
- How to track where data comes from and how it changes through your ML pipeline
- How to check sourcing, licensing, rights and consent before data is used for training
- How to document datasets using Datasheets for Datasets and Model Cards
- How to use policy-as-code checks to stop non-compliant data before training
- What privacy laws and AI-specific regulations require for training data
- How to set up roles, accountability and an operating model across legal, compliance and data teams
- How to reduce risks such as data poisoning, bias and licensing violations
