Udemy – 5G NR & 4G LTE Radio Protocols with Practical Simulations

The mobile world is undergoing its most significant transformation with the advent of 5G. For Telecom network engineers, understanding the evolution from 4G to 5G is not just an advantage – it’s a necessity. This intensive course provides a deep, technical exploration of the Radio Access Network (RAN), demystifying the protocols, architectures, and physical layer principles that make high-speed mobile connectivity possible.

What You Will Learn:

This course is structured to take you on a logical journey from foundational concepts to the cutting-edge innovations of 4G & 5G:

• The Foundation: Grasp the core principles of mobile spectrum, duplexing (FDD/TDD), and modulation that underpin both 4G and 5G.
• 4G LTE Deconstructed: Master the 4G LTE air interface in detail, from the physical layer (PDSCH, PDCCH, PUCCH) through the data link layer (RLC, MAC) and up to the control plane (RRC), including hands-on simulation exercises.
• The 5G NR Revolution: Discover how 5G New Radio (NR) introduces revolutionary changes, including an adaptable frame structure, a re-architected protocol stack with the new SDAP layer, and a streamlined RRC state model for unprecedented efficiency and flexibility.
• Advanced Technologies: Dive into the critical role of advanced antenna systems, including MIMO, and understand how they unlock the massive capacity and speed of 5G.
• Practical Application: Move beyond theory with practical simulations and calculations, learning to model channel performance, compute throughput, and trace call flows in both 4G and 5G networks.

Course Highlights:

• Clear Evolutionary Path: Follow a structured “4G to 5G” narrative that builds your knowledge step-by-step, highlighting what’s new and what’s changed.
• Simulation-Based Learning: Reinforce your understanding with practical module on 4G and 5G physical layer simulation, putting theory into practice.
• Architectural Fluency: Gain end-to-end fluency in both the 4G E-UTRA and 5G NR radio protocol architectures, from Layer 1 to Layer 3.
• Engineering Focus: Tackle real-world engineering tasks like resource calculation, scheduler principles, and throughput analysis.
