In this watercolor foundational class, we’re going to learn about the techniques to create light and shadow in a watercolor painting.
In the first half of the class, we will explore several ways to leverage all seven techniques I’ll be teaching you :
- Ways to preserve, lift, repel, remove, increase light and shadow.
- Ways to balance and apply color.
In the second half of the class, we will create a beautiful autumn landscape with a great play of light and shadow. To do this, we will :
- Conduct a reference photo study
- Draw a sketch and prep it for painting
- Mix great colors to render the light and shadow
Then we will start painting and I’ll show you exactly in which way I tackle the light and shadow and why and how to use some of the techniques shown earlier in the class.
This class is a toolbox for the watercolor enthusiast to refer to, a comprehensive guide for creating light and shadow. This is why beginners and seasoned painters alike will benefit from the lessons and process of painting our autumn landscape.
