There exists a perception about who tech jobs are for. That perception doesn’t often include people from historically marginalized groups and unfortunately it’s based on the reality of a very homogenous workforce in that space. This stifles innovation and disproportionately creates a lasting negative impact on the same underrepresented populations experiencing these barriers. How then, can those from underrepresented groups see themselves in a tech space, claim that space, and then thrive in it? In this course, tech diversity advocate Shawna Curran offers underrepresented groups answers to that very question.
Using culturally-relevant examples to demonstrate how to break into tech, Shawna shows you how to shift the perception of your own self efficacy, how to get and apply your technical skill, what leadership looks like, how mentorship and financial wellness play a big role in your tech career, and how to guard your mental well-being along the way.
