This intermediate How to Implement and Configure the IS-IS Protocol training prepares learners to implement and configure the intermediate system to intermediate system (IS-IS) protocol, ensuring highly efficient large-scale routing decisions at scale.
When a network gets really, really big, the routers on the network need a method for identifying who their neighbors are and what the entire topology of the network is so that efficient decisions can be made about routing traffic. The IS-IS, or intermediate system to intermediate system, protocol is one way that’s done. This course teaches networking professionals how to set up IS-IS so that routers identify their neighbors, relationships get disseminated, and routes get chosen that are efficient.
After completing this How to Implement and Configure the IS-IS Protocol training, you’ll know how to implement and configure the intermediate system to intermediate system (IS-IS) protocol, ensuring highly efficient large-scale routing decisions at scale.
For anyone who manages network admins, this Cisco training can be used to onboard new network admins, curated into individual or team training plans, or as a Cisco reference resource.
This How to Implement and Configure the IS-IS Protocol training has videos that cover topics including:
- Staying on top of network topology changes with automatic route recalculation
- Allowing for multiple paths of equal cost
- Configuring an IS-IS backbone
- Troubleshooting common issues with IS-IS
This How to Implement and Configure the IS-IS Protocol training is considered associate-level Cisco training, which means it was designed for network admins. This IS-IS protocol skills course is designed for network admins with three to five years of experience with Cisco networking.
New or aspiring network admins. IS-IS implementation and configuration isn’t a topic that every network administrator needs to know. In fact, it’s probably too specialized and deep for new admins. But if you need to understand how IS-IS routes traffic, identifies neighbors or advertises links, this training will show you what you need to know.
Experienced network admins. Learning to implement and configure IS-IS is sort of like a rite of passage for Cisco network administrators with a few years of experience. You should learn about IS-IS and advanced protocols like it if you’re interested in setting yourself up for advanced responsibilities in network planning and design.
